LVT Flooring or Tiles?

Luxury vinyl tile and plank (LVT) has become a popular choice for bedrooms, offices and shops. It is not right for every room, so here is a plain comparison.

Where LVT Does Well

  • It looks and feels like wood, and is warmer and quieter underfoot than vitrified tile.
  • It can usually be laid over existing tiles that are level, so there is no breaking and much less dust.
  • Installation is quick, often finished in a day for a bedroom.
  • The surface resists water spills and is easy to mop.

Where Tiles Are Still Better

  • Bathrooms and areas with standing water.
  • Rooms with very heavy furniture or point loads, which can dent vinyl.
  • Floors in strong direct sunlight all day, where any vinyl may fade over time.

Our Usual Advice

Tiles in bathrooms, kitchens and sit-outs; LVT where you want the warmth of wood without its maintenance, such as bedrooms, upper floors, study rooms, salons and offices. Visit the showroom to see the planks in daylight before you decide.
